Tannas Electronic Displays, Inc., Orange, CA, announced that their patent for resizing LCDs has been granted.  Tannas Electronic Displays, Inc., a wholly owned company of Tannas Electronics, is now actively marketing the licensing of the technology and selling prototype samples for evaluation. Custom resized LCDs never considered possible before will be demonstrated at their SID booth #113.

The technology consists of taking a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) LCD and physically cutting it to a new size and resealing it with little or no change in its original performance.  An example is taking a suitable COTS 7-inch by 9-inch AMLCD and making it into a square display for an avionics D Size Instrument. The TANNAS-SIZED™ LCD process opens up an unlimited source of custom sizes for avionics, vehicles and industry at a fraction of the cost and lead time of custom-made displays.

Lawrence E. Tannas, Jr., President, says, "The cost of making a custom resized LCD by my method is very low and there is no NRE and no minimum order."   Tannas goes on to say that the process is easily implemented and that a low cost "turn key" tool set is now available to a licensee for resizing display glass.

Qualified parties may see a demonstration of the process at the Tannas Electronics facility in Orange, California.  A demonstration of a resized LCD or of the resizing process can be arranged through Larry Tannas or Larry Green, Director of Sales and Marketing.  Details of the sizes and the patent can be seen on www.tannas.com.
