The technology consists of taking a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) LCD and physically cutting it to a new size and resealing it such that there is little or no change in its original performance. The TANNAS-SIZED™ LCD process opens up an unlimited source of custom sizes for avionics, vehicles and industry at a fraction of the cost and lead time of custom-made displays. Lawrence E. Tannas, Jr., President, says, “Resized LCDs are also being used to replace EL, PDP and CRT displays that are no longer available.” “The cost of making a custom resized LCD by my patented method is very low and there is no NRE and no minimum order.”
Two companies have been licensed by TED to resize LCDs:
Symbolic
Displays, Inc. (SDI), Santa Ana, CA
SDI has proven in-house resizing facilities. SDI sells resized
LCDs to the
industry and uses LCDs in their simulator product line.
