AMLCDs have proven to be the greatest enabler for situational awareness and informational transfer the pilot has ever seen in the cockpit.  There is no equal, there is no option and there is no going back despite the limited availability and high cost associated with accessing custom-made AMLCDs.

A new breakthrough has occurred, making avionics-grade AMLCDs available in most any size at lower price and at higher quality than most custom-made displays. COTS AMLCDs can now be resized to the form-factor required.  Tannas Electronic Displays, Inc. has developed a way to cut the glass of a low-cost, high-quality commercial off-the-shelf active-matrix liquid crystal display and reseal it while preserving the performance of the uncut display.  The resized COTS AMLCD can now be ruggedized and packaged to meet avionics requirements. This breakthrough will revolutionize the industry by making avionics AMLCDs a generic commodity.

To accelerate market entry, Tannas Electronic Displays, Inc. is selling prototypes and licensing interested companies to make and take the resized display to market. Licensees will be trained and guided in resizing COTS AMLCDs, utilizing the proprietary process with commercially-available machinery.  A tooling set tailored to resize LCDs is available.  The process is trademarked Tannas-Sized™ LCDs.

Tannas Electronic Displays, Inc. is a wholly owned company of Tannas Electronics, formed to take the proprietary process developed by Mr. Tannas to the market.
